I Just Got A Hamster And It Seems Scared...

Hamsters are nocturnal by nature, which means they sleep during the day and are awake at night.  During the day when they are sleeping, if you reach in to pick them up, chances are he flips onto his back and seems very afraid.  This is normal and the best way to change this is to try to handle them as much as possible in the evening before your bedtime to try to tire them out.  This way, they are more likely to sleep at night and be awake during the day.  The more you handle them the more  friendly they will become!
