Coyote grabbing small dogs in front of owners?

It has been a long time since coyotes were afraid of man. We took all their hunting ground and made it easy for them to rummage through our garbage and feed off our road kill. They have observed us for quite some time and no longer see us as predators.
I have seen coyotes cross busy highways during rush hour, and they walk down the middle of my street at night. If an ambulance goes by in the middle of the night, we know immediately how many coyotes are out and about in the neighborhood.

I prefer to learn how to live with nature. When there are coyotes around, my doggie door is shut during the night. I fenced my yard and put up motion sensor lights, both of which discourages them from entering.

In my opinion, if you walk your dog in an area with coyotes, you need to be cautious and proactive. Killing them all is certainly NOT the correct answer.
